My name is Craig Gaylord.
I grew up in Marin County. But I have lived in Sonoma County since 1997, and in Santa Rosa since I got married in 2011.
I saw Star Wars when I was 7. The moment the Stormtroopers blasted through the door I thought they were the coolest looking costumes I had ever seen.
If you would have told me that when I grew up, that I would get to be a Stormtrooper I wouldn't have believed you.
I always did big-time Halloween costumes all my life. But this journey really started when I decided to actually write up a Bucket List. I have done about half of that list now. And the thing that I actually thought would never be checked off was to "Build myself Stormtrooper armor."
In 2015 I found out about the 501st Legion and attended the Santa Rosa Toy Con just to see the troops and find out how to join and where could I get armor? I met some great people who were more than helpful and they steered me in the right direction.
I got my kit as a bunch of vacuformed plastic pieces with nothing trimmed. I had to trim, size and glue together almost the whole thing.
I was approved in Sept 2016 as TK-77776 as A New Hope Stunt Stormtrooper.
My first and favorite is my original TK. That is what we call Stormtroopers as in "TK-421, Why aren't you at your post?"
Since then I have been approved as a Tie Fighter Pilot and Tie Fighter Pilot Reserve (The pilot whose waiting to get called to the flight deck, has no helmet or armor) as a Imperial Officer, which is one of my favorites. You have to run around and look like a jerk on your face.
As a First Order Stormtrooper (The TK's you see in the new trilogy with Kylo Ren)
As a member of the bridge crew, and a member of the scanner crew.
